HP PA-RISC processors are widely used in high performance systems such
as the HP V-Class server. The PA-8x00 series processors include the
PA-8000, PA-8200 and PA-8500. The architecture and performance
characteristics of these processors will be discussed. Understanding how
to use the compiler effectively is very important when obtaining
performance. The HP compilers, their options and directives/pragmas will
be discussed. To improve performance further, source code may need to be
modified. Techniques which improve performance of basic mathematical
subprograms will be demonstrated. An efficient way to improve the
performance of key algorithms is by using the HP Math LIBrary (MLIB). Use
and performance of this product will be discussed.
